Destination: Ethiopia

The Birthplace of Coffee. The Heart of Your Learning.

At African Coffee Campus, your journey begins in Ethiopia—the land where coffee was born. With its vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and deep-rooted coffee heritage, Ethiopia offers more than just a backdrop for learning—it is the experience.

This is not a classroom hidden away in a city. This is hands-on education, grounded in the soil of ancient coffee forests and the rhythm of local communities. You’ll see, smell, taste, and feel coffee in its purest form.

Ethiopia is considered the cradle of Arabica coffee—home to thousands of heirloom coffee varieties and traditional farming methods that go back centuries. Every cup here tells a story of history, culture, and connection.

As a student, you’ll:

  • Walk through wild coffee forests in Kaffa

  • Harvest ripe coffee cherries with local farmers

  • Explore Addis Ababa’s buzzing café scene and specialty roasteries

  • Experience Ethiopian hospitality, food, music, and rituals

Your Two Learning Hubs

Kaffa Region – Week 1: Farm Immersion

Nestled in southwestern Ethiopia, Kaffa is lush, green, and deeply spiritual for coffee lovers. This is where you’ll live among the farms, work the land, and learn directly from the people who grow the world’s most legendary beans.

  • Coffee cultivation and cherry picking

  • Traditional processing methods

  • Forest walks and rural village life

  • Evening bonfires and cultural exchanges

Your accommodation will be comfortable, simple, and fully equipped with essentials—including food, Wi-Fi, and running water.

Addis Ababa – Week 2: Barista & Brewing Foundation

After your time in Kaffa, the program continues in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s bustling capital and specialty coffee hub. In Week 2, you’ll focus on core barista skills and brewing techniques, using state-of-the-art equipment and guided by certified trainers at a facility like Yoya Coffee Academy.

You’ll begin building the skills required for global barista positions, all aligned with the SCA Barista Skills and Brewing Foundation-level curriculum.

Addis Ababa – Week 3: Roasting & Sensory Skills
